Direct access allows you to see a dental therapist without first being examined by a dentist. It’s a safe and efficient way to maintain your oral health, especially for hygiene and gum-related care.

Our dental therapist is fully qualified to provide a range of treatments without the need to see a dentist first.

Under direct access, you can book directly with the therapist for the following:

Oral cancer screening
Routine checks for any signs of mouth cancer during your visit.
Oral hygiene advice
Personalised guidance on brushing, flossing, and maintaining healthy gums.
Maintenance hygiene treatments
Professional cleaning to remove plaque, tartar, and staining.
Periodontal management
Includes full gum charting, diagnosis, and tailored treatment for gum disease.
Temporary dressings
Applied if you’re in pain or have lost a filling — to protect the tooth until further treatment is arranged.
Referrals for treatment beyond therapist scope
If your needs fall outside of what a therapist can provide, you’ll be referred to the appropriate clinician promptly.
